At WMI, we are enthusiastic about the potential benefits that innovation in all of its forms offers for our planet and its inhabitants. Sadly, the reality is, sometimes, that poor implementation of scientific or technical advances can leave groups or individuals behind. Worse still, many times we see that the darker side of human nature, most often greed, leads to such benefits being actively denied to some, or retained exclusively for others.
We also keenly realize that however well a group of people or individuals prepare themselves to be effective, successful members of society, circumstances completely outside of their control can prevent them achieving their dreams or even obtaining basic necessities for survival.
Accordingly, WMI devotes a substantial portion of its profits to supporting various institutions and organizations which, in our view, can provide survival, hope, or the means for improvement for others in this world. We also contribute time and expertise to groups, such as Habitat for Humanity where our project management skills can have a direct, beneficial impact.
We are proud to list the following groups and organizations among those we support financially and/or through time and effort:
- Habitat for Humanity
- World Vision
- One Laptop per Child Foundation
- Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network
- Fredericksburg Area Foodbank
- Fistula Foundation
- Goodwill Industries
- Episcopal Church Charities
- The Independent Old Catholic Church of America
- International Fellowship of Christians and Jews
- The Salvation Army
- AmVets
